Tom’s Daffodil Diaries

I love spring. It’s yellow. Yellow is my favourite colour. It’s a happy colour. And it smells nice too. Tom’s garden is starting to burst into yellow life with daffodil popping up everywhere with their cheerful little faces. Dancing in the breeze, singing in the sunshine and laughing in the rain.

We have native daffodils (I’ll call them Jane Daffodils) in the woodland garden and last autumn we planted more daffodil bulbs. The garden fairies and pixies then sprinkled their magic gardening dust and gave us lots of pretty daffodils to enjoy.

Here’s a selection of my favourite daffodils from Tom’s garden. I don’t know what make or flavour they are. Perhaps we will do some learning from our favourite gardening books to find out their posh names. But for now I give them Disney inspired names. Because I love daffodils and I love Disney.

Woodland Daffodils (Jane) with shapely trumpets …

Woodland Jane Daffodils and anemone …

Tillie looking mischievous beside the daffodils. Tillie often looks mischievous. …

A very pretty daffodil with a fluffy centre. Probably called Aurora …

Pretty star shaped daffodils. Pocahontas daffodil …

Two tone happy daffodils. Alice daffodil …

Mini daffodils with fairy sparkles in the background. Fantasia daffodil …

Two types of cream and gold button nosed daffodils …

Belle daffodil …

And Nala daffodil …

I find Daffodils everywhere I go. Here are some magical fluttery daffodils in my favourite field. Where I do zoomies. Big zoomies. Mary Poppins Daffodil …

Enjoy your daffodils. And when the weather is pants (like it is here today), make cookies. I recommend my home baked cheesy pizza cookies to enjoy with my daffodil diaries.

Note to Tom’s Daffodil Diaries

For the many followers*of Tom’s Gardening Diary wondering what happened to March, the weather goblins played havoc with my planned gardening schedule and I didn’t have much to tell. So a little bit like the dog eating the homework, Tom’s Gardening Diary – March was eaten by the goblins. Instead I bring you the joy of daffodils in my Daffodil Diaries.

As a gardener, the highlights of March for me were the return of Gardeners World and Beechgrove Garden.

*At the time of publishing I proudly have 1 official follower of Tom’s Gardening Diary. My mummy.
