Tillie's Adventures - Dodd Wood and Derwentwater

Tillie’s Adventures – Dodd Wood and Derwentwater

Well. Tfff. Tom has been complaining that I haven’t been writing up my stories of my adventures. What’s he like? He thinks I don’t read his stories to see that he’s having a little moan. For goodness sake. What a dick head.

Anyway, I do have quite a lot of stories of my adventures to type up and I am planning to get them all typed up when the Scottish Summer weather is too warm to be going on adventures. Maybe I should start a vlog or whatever its called? Tillie’s Youtube channel. Then I can just beam my story straight to the t’interweb as it happens without doing the typing up bit. From the telephone to the t’interweb. Tillie style. That’ll shut Tom up.

This story is a very lovely adventure I enjoyed in the Lake District with my Gwanny. And a picnic. We went to Dodd Wood and Derwentwater, Keswick. My Gwanny is a very favouritest person in my world and she had a very special birthday at the end of May, so this story is dedicated to my beautiful Gwanny, who’s celsius age is 21.

We parked up at Dodd Wood in the car park. There’s a lovely little tea room called the Old Sawmill Tea Room and plenty of walks to choose from. You can walk to the top of Dodd Fell or if you are feeling very energetic you can walk to the top of Skiddaw. The views are lovely. It was quite warm so we did the short Douglas Fir walk to keep in the shade and build up a little appetite for a picnic.

(This was before I started a home cooked diet and even though I ate the best quality kibble with a high quality meat, my breath was always just a little bit pongy. Not any more though. Tillie eats fresh, nutritious, healthy, delicious home cooked food and has the freshest breath. And I’m not as boom boom as I was then.)

After our short walk and paddle in the stream at Dodd Wood, we continued our adventure to Keswick.

First stop was Booths to buy some picnic food. Booths is a posh supermarket and sells the most lovely food and drink. Gwanny loves Booths and was very happy to leave with a free Christmas book with recipes and everything. And some picnic food. We then parked up beside Derwentwater and headed into the park to sit on the grass and eat our picnic.

We then went for a deek aboot* the Lake to take in more of the lovely views and walk off our picnic lunch which was delicious.

*Deek aboot = posh Cumbrian for look about.
